This program is located in El Oro province, in the Jambelí Archipelago in southwest Ecuador. The sensitivity of this ecosystem and its high threat level make this archipelago a priority area for conservation efforts. Lack of scientific information about the area, unenforced conservation laws, and the exploitation of the area's natural resources due to shrimp fishermen all contribute to the dangers that this ecosystem faces, and provide all the more reason why it needs to protected immediately.
