The River Basin Fund

This fund was created to be a permanent source of funding for initiaives, activities, and projects for the conservation of water sources in the Zamora county.  The administration of the fund is taken care of by a committee made up of public and private organizations, and also by representatives of the users of this water. This creates a greater sense of the value of environmental services like this, which in turn invokes a greater awareness towards the need to conserve them.

The Mangrove Forest Route
       Natural and archeological treasures...

The community on Costa Rica Island and the fishermen's association in Huaquillas county, together with Arcoiris, are promoting alternative tourism in the mangrove forests of Jambelí Archipelago in the El Oro province through the Mangrove Forest Route.  The objective of this initiative is to contribute to the conservation of the mangrove forests, and to financially support the communities that depend on the natural resources of this threatened ecosystem.  We are currently offering food, lodging, transportation, and guides to groups of people from other parts of Ecuador to learn about and enjoy the natural, cultural, and archeological beauty of this unique place.
